It has been an enormous privilege to serve the people of Clarence as Deputy Mayor since 2022.

I grew up and was educated on the Eastern Shore and have spent much of my working and community life advocating for the people who call Clarence home.

During my first term on Council, I have worked hard on the issues that matter to local residents — protecting public assets and open spaces; fighting for practical hard waste support; advocating for better infrastructure and transport; supporting local business; providing young people with a stronger voice; protecting our heritage and making sure the community has a genuine say in decisions that shape Clarence.

I have taken carriage of Council motions to pursue the buy-back of Kangaroo Bay, protect Charles Hand Memorial Park from proposed housing, and successfully moved to ensure our community must be consulted on the future of Bellerive Oval.

When Council’s annual hard waste collection ended, I funded my own community survey. It attracted 1,680 responses, with 94 per cent supporting the return of a hard waste service. I then successfully moved for Council to investigate alternative hard waste models and continued the fight for practical support, including tip vouchers. With those vouchers now discontinued, I remain committed to advocating for affordable, sustainable and accessible hard waste solutions.

I have also worked for stronger regulation of short-stay accommodation, promoted the development of improved parking, park and ride facilities and transport connections (including for improved access to the Derwent River ferry service), planning for and pursuing better sport/recreation infrastructure, safer public spaces and supporting local business by supporting Buy Local policies for council contracts.

I support progressing a genuine Civic Centre for Clarence. With Council purchasing new offices at 30 Gordons Hill Road, Rosny, there is an opportunity to consider how the existing Council Chambers and wider civic precinct can better serve the community into the future.

I am also proud to be a Foundation Member of the Bellerive Bluff Battery Association and have long advocated for the protection and recognition of this important cultural and heritage site.

In 2023, I was deeply honoured to be inducted into the Tasmanian Honour Roll of Women for service across community, advocacy and inclusion; government and public services; human rights; and sport and recreation.
